Sub: Regarding arbitrariness in allotment of election duties
Respected Sir /Madam,
This is to bring to your notice the arbitrary attitude employed in allotting election duties to government school teachers. The moot points of the complaint are:-
1. In most of the cases, the teachers have been allotted training /duty centres at a large distance from their homes. It is very difficult to travel such long distances for teachers many of them being in their fifties, suffering from various ailments. It becomes more difficult when the female teachers have to travel 30-40 kilometre to reach their training /duty centres.
It is requested that the teachers may be allotted duties at a comfortable distance.
2. In many cases, both husband and wife have been employed in election duties, without sparing a thought that in nuclear homes, it will be very difficult to take care of children in absence of both the parents.
It is requested that one parent may be exempted from the election duty.
3. The male staff are directed to stay at the polling centre in night preceding the polling day. It results in inconvenience and discomfort to the teachers as there are hardly any arrangement of proper facilities at the polling centre.
It is requested that the teachers may not be forced to stay at the polling centre during the night preceding the polling day.
3. During the last election of Delhi Assembly it was observed that there was a chaos and very much difficulty in depositing Voting Machines at the deposition centres. We request you to make proper arrangements for depositing of machines smoothly without any hustle and bustle.
It is hoped that that your good self may consider these requests to make the election duty a positive, and not a harrowing experience for the teachers.
